CLOSED BY COUNCIL 05/04/2024

4 years, 3 months and 5 days after starting Yarra Valley Whisky council turn up unannounced and shuts down my business on the basis that I am not registered with them as a "Food Producer".

Four years ago when I had a booked meeting with the planning department of Yarra Ranges Council at their offices in Lilydale absolutely no mention of "Registration as Food Producer" was made. A formal complaint against Yarra Ranges Council has been made to the Victorian Ombudsman.

Planned Re-Opening 01/09/2024

Currently investigating possibility of moving production to a brewery in Bayswater (outside the juristiction of Yarra Ranges Council Long way to go but hoping to resume production in August and start selling again in early September.

First Release Whisky coming early December 2023.
Will be a Single Malt, Single Barrel, Unfiltered, Peated Whisky at 44%alc. 110 500ml bottles only.

Im uncertain but I belive Yarra Valley Whisky is the smallest legal distillery in Victoria. Still operating out of a shed/garage but visits by locals are OK by appointment (but not on weekends when I'm at markets)
